direct taxes

Direct taxes are levies imposed directly on individuals and organizations according to their income, wealth, or property.

  • Examples include personal income tax, corporation tax, and wealth tax.
  • The burden (or incidence) of direct taxes falls on the person or organization paying them and cannot be passed on to others.
